Jose Medrano joined Karp Strategies as an Analyst with experience in spatial analytics, market research, transportation planning, and visual storytelling. As an innovative and creative problem solver, Jose previously worked at ioby where he helped facilitate community and economic development by analyzing and identifying neighborhood trends and opportunities in Cincinnati, OH. At the Pratt Center for Community Development he helped create an online neighborhood data portal that provides free access to essential planning information and data analysis, demonstrating his passion for open data and ensuring open access to information. As a Transit Development intern at NYCDOT, Jose supported complex multi-agency transportation projects, including the Q52 and Q53 Select Bus Service routes in Queens, and has supported transit projects in all five of NYC’s boroughs. Jose is known for his asset-based planning approach that values people and place-based solutions. He is experienced at curating complex data analysis and visualizations to diverse audiences.
Jose graduated from the University of New Mexico with a dual bachelor’s in political science and Psychology. He is currently finishing his Master of Science in City and Regional Planning at Pratt Institute, where his thesis focuses on demographic change and bus ridership in Brooklyn.
