Operations Analysis, Tenant Engagement and Project Management for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey’s Wharf Replacement Program
The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ) is evolving in response to an ever-changing industry that faces growth in the size of ships, climate change, and new types of competition. Wharf and berthing facilities, many constructed decades ago, must accommodate the new post-Panamax ships and their cargos. Prime consultant CH2M hired Karp Strategies as a strategic partner to lead the integration of tenant operational constraints into the project, and to support PANYNJ’s development of a business case around the program. Karp Strategies brings expertise in ports and waterfronts and engagement to work with stakeholders to identify and surface key factors in wharf design, construction, sequencing, and staging, PANYNJ’s prioritization and cost-benefit analysis — all critical information utilized by the consulting team’s engineers and economists to advance the program. In addition to its strategic analysis and tenant engagement role, Karp Strategies supports the team in program-wide project management. Our team is also leading strategy and execution of a series of interactive internal workshops with PANYNJ designed to facilitate decision-making and information sharing at critical project junctures.
