Yuri joined Karp Strategies as an urban planning and communications strategist with experience in community and economic development, stakeholder engagement, and digital content creation. She has worked extensively with urban and rural communities across the country to advance the development of more economically prosperous, socially equitable, and environmentally sustainable neighborhoods.
Yuri most recently served as the Deputy Director of Digital Content at Smart Growth America in Washington DC, where she produced national resources on topics such as active transportation, transit-oriented development, small-and scale manufacturing. In this position, she led community visioning sessions with city leaders, and collaborated closely with federal agencies such as the Environmental Protection Agency, the Economic Development Administration, and the Department of Transportation. While working with the Environmental Protection Agency, Yuri delivered planning guidance to five Appalachian communities on sustainable downtown development and broadband infrastructure investments. Prior to joining Smart Growth America, Yuri advocated on Capitol Hill for policies that expand access to workforce development and continuing education programs.
Raised in Jackson Heights, Queens, Yuri is delighted to return to New York. She is currently pursuing a M.S. in City & Regional Planning at Pratt Institute with concentrations in urban sustainability and community development. She holds a B.A. from Tufts University in International Relations and Communications. She is proficient in Korean and Spanish.
