With experience in GIS, community health and safety, affordable housing, and traffic management, Ma'isah Bateman brings a hands-on, community-driven approach to her work at Karp Strategies. In her current role as a Graduate Analyst, Ma'isah supports urban planning and construction projects by conducting data analysis, engaging with community stakeholders, and providing insights to ensure projects align with the needs of residents. She dedicates her work to making cities more accessible, walkable, and inclusive.

Previously, as a Planning Intern with the City of Takoma Park, Ma'isah worked on several impactful projects, including the Safe Routes to School initiative, where she created walking maps to promote safe routes for students and community members. She also developed a bus stop map app to track ridership and optimize transportation access. Additionally, during her internship with New York State Homes & Community Renewal, Ma'isah assisted in mapping flood-safe land for potential affordable housing development, further enhancing her skills in GIS and community-based planning.

Ma'isah graduated with a Master of Urban Planning degree from New York University. She is passionate about shaping urban spaces that prioritize safety, sustainability, and high quality of life for all residents. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling to walkable cities and is deeply committed to social justice.
